Stories about Music in Africa is an ongoing series that presents concert-lectures and audio/visual stories about music outfits from global Africa dedicated to exploring new musical territory.
The eighth installment, recorded at the Chimurenga headquarters in Cape Town during April 2017, presents Nduduzo Makhathini & The Cure Collective, featuring Makhathini on keyboard, Justin Bellairs on saxophone, Shakeel Cullis on bass and Asher Gamedze on drums.
This episode takes its name from Makhathini’s latest project ‘iKhambi’ – a quest for healing through sound. Positive vibration to the universe is at core of Makhathini’s vision for the music and his compositions speak to his connection to a higher spiritual force.
